  • Just “caught fire”?  Seems highly unlikely given the political situation in France.

  • Remember that France was long known as the "Eldest Daughter of the Church", thus a target of attack for centuries already.

Note this is happening in a nation that thought it perfectly fine to display another prominent church in the Paris skyline as NOT A CHURCH in its publicity materials for the 2024 summer olympics.

Image pasted below, see article here: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13163053/Fury-Paris-Olympics-poster-removes-Christian-cross-Napoleons-tomb-France-considers-allowing-Saudi-Olympic-village-set-famous-landmark.html

If [[[they]]] can construct their alternate reality and photoshop out skyline crosses, then why not take the next step to arson actual ones. Wouldn't want to offend the state-protected sensibilities of infidels, ba'al & moloch worshippers, and every other stripe of evil.

Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you, all things pass away: God never changes. Patience obtains all things. He who has God finds he lacks nothing; God alone suffices. - St. Teresa of Jesus

  • Fortunately it seems that only the plastic sheeting protecting the scafolding caught fire. This explains the black smoke. As the spire is iron it was spared from any major damage

Good to hear in this instance. Yet not so good for all the others in recent years in France (plus Canada too).

Snopes disputes this map, but its attempted debunking article pathetically raises more questions than it claims to answer. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/churches-destroyed-in-france/
