Fr. Thomas Ryan, C.PP.S., was Brownson's biographer, having written the 800pp. biography. Fr. Ryan also wrote a small book on Brownson's thought, "The Sailor's Snug Harbor: Studies in Brownson's Thought." This article, "No Salvation Outside the Church" was written for the American Ecclesiastical Review, the largest Jesuit publication in America, perhaps in the world. We invite you to read the article as it is a short and excellent read. 1947 was an interesting year, as it was the same year that Dr. Fakir Maluf (Brother Francis) wrote his famous article "Sentimental Theology," an article every Catholic should read.
