  • I'm compiling a summer reading list and would like to know who your favorite Catholic author is and which of his/her books is your favorite.  I'd like to be able to have a list of fiction and non-fiction authors to draw from in the next 3 months.  Summer can be a disorganized time for me so I like to challenge myself to read 1000 pages from June 1 to Sept 1.  Ten to twelve pages a day is certainly doable and won't get put off in chaos of summer.

  • "Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

  • G K Chesterton, of course.

And I'm currently reading A Canticle For Leibowitz by Walter Miller for the second time. It's Catholic sci-fi.

Tolkien gets my vote, but the Miller book is great.  Did you read "Saint Leibowitz and The White Horse Woman"?

I've been meaning to read Canticle. Tolkien gets my vote, too. Of overtly Catholic fiction writers anyway.

  • You could check out RA Lafferty. I've only read one of his novels and a couple short stories, but they were good.
