  • Good post! I'm always reading a couple of things, and am generally a slow reader. It takes me months to slog through some books as I typically read in small sessions every few days.

For non-fiction I have The Science of Sacred Theology by Emmanuel Doronzo. It's one volume, very dense but very practical for novices like me. I wanted to dip my toe into a general studies before I really seek out some of the great theologians and their work.

In the mail-stream somewhere is The Last Crusade by Warren H. Carroll which covers the Spanish cινιℓ ωαr from an apologetical stance with a Catholic / anti-communist perspective. I'm very excited to read it, my only exposures to the war were from when I was secular and were almost always with a pro-republican outlook.

I've been meaning to get into more Catholic novels. I found this really great series of videos on youtube titled "The Catholic Novel" hosted by "NETTVCATHOLIC NET-TV" in which a priest gives short lectures on his favorite catholic novels. I was, trying and failing, to listen to the audiobook of The Brideshead Revisited this last week while I was at work. The opening to the book is pretty dry and hard to get through, which I had heard. Trying to focus on the book while working my job proved to be pretty horrendous. All the names and characters and formal english aristocracy thrown all over the place - it was a lot. I'm probably going to have to re-listen to the first few chapters to really get a hold on it, but I've heard it's really worthwhile if I can get through the start...
