  • That's right... this thread is for "user art" ... which means it doesn't have to be religious. It just has to not be offensive/blasphemous.

Serious pieces and doodles alike are welcome here, as well, so anybody (regardless of talent) can share if there's something they  would like to.

oh by the way, i like the first big picture! :scratchchin:

it's great to know it's your computer's desktop, Dulcamara! :rahrah:

Currently (since then) I've got the Pieta over an interesting wallpaper someone else did. But I started a while back to use something religious for my wallpaper, and since then it's become a rule with me. Even if I have something else behind it, there has GOT to be some space for God there. It is nice because then, as I spend so much time on my computer (when my head is so forgiving) I will always have something there to bring my thoughts to where they should be.

Unrelated note to other posters in this thread: Please do not post anything that is not your own work (or someone you know personall whom you think will not mind). Eg, please do not post old holy cards and what not... I'd like to observe copyright laws as strictly as possible here. Rendering to Cesar and all... (No I don't agree with the strictness of some laws, but I'm sure we will be blessed for putting up with them for obedience's sake.)

If you know the artist personally, and you know they won't mind, great. I, for one, do my best not to visit sites that break the law.

Just for the heck of it, this little gallery are my 3 completed paintings so far and one work in progress. I only started out this past September.

There is a little bit of background on some of them at my blog.

The smoking skeleton one would make a great anti-cigarette ad.

  • I had some thought about that. It was painted by Van Gogh a long time ago.  I read it was likely done as a study of human structure.  But your right.

  • Hi Pedro, I enjoy the unusually low point of view, and the foreground grass is very well done.  Did you use separate photo-reference to compose a picture ?

  • You basically answered my question, I recognized that the foreground was not in the original plane you must have drawn from and wondered if it was using photo-reference since it was one of the most realistic looking part.

  • Thought I'd breathe some life into this thread. My Signature was a photoshoped image of Saint Joseph that I messed around with to make. THis was the original picture:

If any of you have a favorite saint or something that you want in your signature, I'd be happy to try and make one for you.

  • I was just messing around, and then I realized what I was doing; portraying Joseph as a protector from darkness as he was a protector and head of the Holy Family. I thought it was pretty neat myself, I was quite proud of that picture. THanks for the remark.
My avatar is a classical painting of Jesus, and my favorite one as well. So Alex, you still can't think of a picture? Find me a lion :)
