(For non-US folks here, Illinois contains the infamous city of Chicago but also very large swathes of decent folk living in small towns. The iniquity of Chicago, both its politicians and inhabitants, tends to make the latter invisible, unfortunately.) The Governor of Illinois is a member of the wealthy and powerful Pritzker family. The White House is now pushing for cash bail to end nationwide. What the local Soros-funded district attorneys couldn't undermine, the end of cash bail likely will.

    Here's my thinking as someone inclined towards accelerationism, but who still has dependent children: anything that "moves the needle" in the right direction should not easily be spurned.

    It's easy to desire accelerationism and see it all come to a crashing stop, but the modern world is so complicated and interconnected that we can't expect even ourselves or our children to survive that catastrophe. I agree, and I think we should amplify the idea: anything that gives us even a small advantage should be pushed as hard as it can be. The situation is tough and will get even tougher with the coming controls and regulations, regardless of whether we see a collapse or not.

    I thought of a funny though imperfect analogy.

    Is it more profitable to "card count" in Blackjack or to put it all on the line for "the next card"?
