The Life and Death of Merrie England
(In Fifty Words)
The Church owned most of the land.
The peasants rented and cultivated it to their good.
The king issued free currency.
Christ Jesus ruled in Church and State.
Monarch, Lords and Commons worshipped, lived and
learned in wellbeing.
Then usurers came, conquered and charged interest.
Debt reigned over the ruins.
