  • Anyone ever read The Holy Mass by Dom Prosper Guranger? I have A Study of the Roman Liturgy By Adrian Florescu are the two books different in any major way? Would it be worth getting The Holy Mass too?

    Thanks and God Bless

  • No one has read the Holy Mass? I have been told it was a very important study of the liturgy. Meh.

Definitely acquire this tome! It is an excellent and devout commentary upon the Ordinary of the Mass. Rev. Fr. Fortescue's book is a more scholarly work that delves more into the history of the Sacred Liturgy and the various aspects of the holy texts of the Prayers of the Mass. The book by the great French Benedictine Abbot is historical too, but it is oriented more toward those who wish for a devout and theological (though easy to understand) exposition of the Holy Mass.

It is great for meditations for Visits to the Blessed Sacrament and for Holy Hours.

I shall upload some scans of this book when I get the chance.
Please ignore all that I have written regarding sedevacantism.
