A brother came to the Abbot Theodore of Pherme and begged for three days, to make him a word of salvation. The Abbot, however, did not answer him, and brother left, while saddened. So a disciple of Father Theo, he went and met the judge and his companions. The judge asked him:
"Tell us, the Old man, where the cell of Father Moses is? "
The Old man said: "What do you want him? He is a heretic and a fool! "
The judge went on his way, arrived at the church of Skete and said to the priests:
"I have heard of the Abbot Moses and came came a far distance to see him. But we met an old man who was heading to Egypt; we asked him where the cell of Father Moses, and he said:
What do you want him? It is a heretic and a fool! "
The priests, these words were saddened and said, "How was this old man who told you and the holy man? "They replied," It was very old and was black, wearing a long black garment. "So the young men shouted:
"It was the Abbot Moses in person! But as he did not want you to see it, he told you about himself in these words! "
Deeply edified, the judge went home.
