  • Commemorating 700 years since Dante Alighieri’s death today, I have decided to upload this first in a hopeful series of dramatic readings of the three books of the Divine Comedy, starting with the Inferno.

Having read much of the Comedy myself and gained much fruit from it, I think it is especially important that us Catholics reclaim it and let the authentic Catholic spirit of this work shine as a great light to this perverse generation. Like in our own time, Dante was witnessing a crisis in the Church, albeit not on the level of Faith and Dogma, but rather on a level of material corruption and moral laxness. But, even on those points we can certainly connect our experiences with his writings! Also, we should take into account that this story is fundamentally one of spiritual renewal, of a man walking out of the darkness of error through the help of God back to the straight road of the True Faith. If we cannot personally connect to such a story, we can still learn much from it.

Fixed the issue with the scratchy audio in this recording and the first video.
