Well, public libraries are paid by our federal $$$ and the agenda of the feds is communism, marxism.
I don't know where this misinformation came from, but wrong information is never good. I worked part time for a while at a rural branch of a regional library in Washington State and have some understanding of this.
The vast majority (probable in the higher 90% range) of library funding anywhere in the country is totally local. In Washington all public libraries are either part of a library taxing district (which will have a board of directors and any change to tax rates or major policy requires a vote of the people), or they are operated by a municipality or county (funded through a line item in the budget) with a publicly elected council or board of commissioners. There is no direct support for public libraries from the state budget. Data from the American Library Association shows that across the nation on 0.63% of library funding comes from the federal government.
As a point of information, I had accidentally clicked the up arrow while meaning to click on the "quote" tab.
