Sometimes I bump threads so that they are noticeable on the main page of the forum.

Also, I think it can be kind of funny at the same time since only "Bump!" is said with the smiley :roll-laugh2:. On Fish Eaters, I would use a big grin emoticon with the "Bump!" At one point though, I got in trouble for threadbumping there since I was doing it sort of often at one time on FE.

Threadbumping can be fun like ad hominems, spewed vitriol, strawman arguments, and one-trick ponies! :roll-laugh2: j/k
