  • at least he feels respect for Fawkes, the patsy setup up by Prot England

"Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent. Last night I sought to end that silence. Last night I destroyed the Old Bailey, to remind this country of what it has forgotten. More than 400 years ago a great citizen wished to embed the fifth of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that fairness, justice, and freedom are more than words, they are perspectives. So if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you then I would suggest that you allow the fifth of November to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek, then I ask you to stand beside me one year from tonight, outside the gates of Parliament, and together we shall give them a fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot. "

"Our story begins, as the stories often do, with a young up-and-coming politician. He is a deeply religious man, and a member of the conservative party. He is completely single-minded, and has no regard for political process. The more power he obtains, the more obvious his zealotry, and the more aggressive his supporters become. Eventually, his party launches a special project in the name of national security. At first, it's believed to be a search for biological weapons, and is pursued without regard to its cost. However, the true goal of this project is power: complete and total hegemonic domination. The project, however, ends violently. But the efforts of those involved are not in vain, for a new way to wage war is borne from the blood of one of the victims: imagine a virus, the most terrifying virus you can, and then imagine that you, and you alone, have the cure. But if your ultimate goal is power, how best to use such a weapon? It's at this point in our story that along comes a spider. He is a man seemingly without a conscience, for whom the ends always justify the means, and it is he who suggests that their target should not be an enemy of the country, but rather the country itself. Three targets are chosen to maximise the effect of the attack: a school, a tube station, and a water treatment plant. Several hundred die within the first few weeks. Fueled by the media, fear and panic spread quickly, fracturing and dividing the country, until at last the true goal comes into view: before the St. Mary's crises, no one would've predicted the results of the election that year, no one. And then not long after the election, lo and behold, a miracle! Some believed it was the work of God Himself, but it was a pharmaceutical company controlled by certain party members that made them all obscenely rich. A year later, several extremists are tried, found guilty, and executed, while a memorial is built to canonise their victims. But the end result, the true genius of the plan, was the fear. Fear became the ultimate tool of this government, and through it, our politician was appointed to the newly created position of High Chancellor. The rest, as they say, is history... "

it shows a good view of the NWO and planned "terrorist" attacks, it has its good points in that......no one said it was Catholic, moral or good otherwise......might make people do something they rarely do, think.........

  • Belloc, I always mean to watch this movie for the reasons you cite. It seems that I am ever alone though and of course do not want my children to see it. I feel that I can watch this and not run on to join the nearest Church of Satan.

  • It implants in you a revolutionary mindset, that of a terrorist, without knowing what you are fighting for.  It is geared at the typical Alex Jones acolyte, the "freedom fighter" who wants to restore the Constitution without realizing that the Constitution is one of the problems.  This is just another outgrowth of the mindset of the French Revolution.

I'd think the presence of a Jєωιѕн starlet in the lead would tip you off.  Also think of how the jackbooted police "martyr" a ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ, who is made as usual to be the most sympathetic figure, while in reality they protect the ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖs and liberals.

The comic book was conceived because the writer, Alan Moore, believes that after a nuclear war there will be a "fascist" government ( the Great Monarch ).  That is what "Evey" rebels against.  Read about the comic.  The heroine is a prostitute!  And of course one of the bad guys is a pedophile priest; that is how he chooses to cheaply attack the Church.

What makes it as dangerously two-faced as its hero in its appeal both to liberals and to conspiracy types is that the "fascist" government of the book has resemblances to the neo-cons.  And Guy Fawkes of course was a Catholic.  That is why, Belloc, you are probably reading into it some kind of revolt against what Alex Jones calls the police state, though I know you do not blindly swallow the rhetoric of Jones.

But the government shown in the film is essentially a Catholic martial state, hence the pedophile priest who represents the clergy's high involvement in this "fascist" government.  Even if the "fascist" government depicted is the NWO -- which I don't believe, I think it is the Great Monarch's Age of Peace, still in the future, because the story takes place after an apocalypse -- the book and movie really promotes anarchy against any semblance of order.
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

  • Raoul, yes we all know about the starlet and we all know about the Constitution.....would you not be willing to resist the regime in the movie? never thought of you as a sheep.....

Catholics have a right to resist at times......

yes, we all know too about the homo stuff, even noted it to Dawn in a previous post....

religion is attacked in teh movie, but the priest is a Anglican!!! hence, not a real priest at all....

we have a duty and right to resist at times and true, Jones gets too carried away, to many books on the Revolution and his Prot arminian theology

  • Oh, V for Vendetta. Never seen that.

I thought this was about V, the sci-fi series where a lot of alien lizards try to take over the earth, which I did see (the 80s version, not the latest one.)

  • I think lesbianism is more of a tool for tempting males than females, has anyone else noticed that? It is more socially acceptable for 2 women to engage in a sinful relationship than 2 men, just another tool for ruining souls though.
