  • Fusillade

    Far across the wand'ring stream
I sat upon a winged dream
Fancy I should set it free
the day it came for you and me

    I grew apart
    there in the dark
    Looking for chance
    I made my plans
    Whither we go
    Who ever could know
    there in the dark
can a dream find its mark?

Far across our own raging sea
We sat aside, and let our dream
fulfill the way it had to go
there is just no way we could know

    I grew in turn
    there we did learn
    Looking for choice
    I lost my voice
    From here to there
    A circle, a square
    There in the town
    I laid my dream down

    In bluster, rancor and tirade
I dealt with that which I had made
In arguments the price I paid
At length was shot a fusillade

  • If my circuмstances had been different (i.e., if I hadn't grown up in a midwestern town with nothing going on and/or hadn't been raised traditional Catholic) I could have seen myself in some kind of band, as a singer and songwriter.

It seems those sorts of ambitions fill a void in people, although they often lead people nowhere.

  • I suppose so -- I suppose I should just be content to keep it in the realm of "hobby".

Obviously I won't be starting a band anytime soon :)
