Title: My favorite photograph

This is my favorite photograph. It is of Saint Gemma Galgani who is my favorite saint. When I look at this image it seems like I can see her holiness as if it is tangible and visible in her features. I find it remarkable. I have this image on a prayer card and I look at it often and pray to this saint every day.

The wounds would appear on her body on Thursday evenings and remain there until Friday afternoons and then disappear. Her confessor said about her that he believed she had never committed a single deliberate venial sin in her entire life. She lived in Italy and died in 1903.

She is one of my favorite Saints as well. Her gaze is honest and steadfast.

St. Gemma has that clear, serene gaze that one sees in artists' depictions of Catholic saints.

The truth about this is that St. Gemma never looked anyone on the face. Her eyes were modestly lowered all the time. The reason a photograph was taken with her eyes open is that she was is ecstasy at the time, and was not really looking at the camera. That is why her gaze is so heavenly.
