  • I just watched the movie, "The Impossible".

This movie is based on the experience of Maria Belon from Spain who was in Thailand in 2004 the day after Christmas when the Tsunami struck.

Her three sons between 12 and 5 years old were at the pool with herself and her husband when they were struck by a 30 ft high wave in the surge.

The fact that her family, separated and wounded all survived was a miracle. She herself was under water for over 3 minutes.

It is sad though that when I researched the background of the movie Maria does not believe in God. God is absent in the movie and I thought that it was just Hollywood not wanting to offend the atheists.

    Quote
Belon: I became very spiritual after (the tsunami).  I lived through very deep spiritual moments but there is no God for me.

    Story here:

Nothing is Impossible for Maria Belon

  • I think they make a god out of life.  Of course, God is truth.  So, a respect for the natural order and an honest search for truth, should eventually lead to God.

Maria states she became spiritual after the incident. She denies that God is calling. A movie made about her and her family is called, "The Impossible" which is a synonym for miracle.

Yet she has zero gratitude towards God. She goes on in the interview to state that asking why she and her family were spared while others died would put her in a dark place. So instead they ask "What for ?'.

It is sad that for whatever reason she rejects God. She has placed herself and her boys in a dark place.

    This family needs our prayers.

  • I give the movie 5/5 by the way.

Five stars despite the fact you have to imagine faith was involved somehow. If you watch this with kids, fill in the blanks. save your family the way Maria did not.

  • This movie is attacked by the minority pc crowd as being blind to the native Thai population that also suffered, so:

    In Thailand:
The official number of Thai natives killed in the tsunami was 2568. 51%
The official number of foreigners killed was 2510.  49%
In addition to that 3716 people are listed as missing and the majority of those are foreigners and assumed deceased.
    Source: Bangkok Post 2005.

It is objective that the majority of the victims in Thailand were foreign tourists.
