  • I steer clear of Hollywood completely nowadays, so I have not even heard of this before...

I read your link and quite frankly it sounds too good to be true.

Belloc, was there any blasphemy in it?  Immodesty or otherwise inappropriate content??  If not, I just might check it out.

Not that I can recall, no sex or nudity nor do I recall blasphemy, though the Prot soldiers were fairly harsh, do not recall hearing Gods name, etc in vain...mea culpa in advance if I am wrong, saw it some yrs ago now, but that is my memory of it...

the onyl thing upsetting is the story to Americanists, they do not like it, but you and most of us here would not be bothered...a group of men put their faith first and act on it, sacrificing much...

  • I bought the movie off Amazon (through Cathinfo's link of course) last week. It was EXCELLENT! A great movie, despite the cursing (nothing vulgar) and a couple times where God's name is taken in vain (though you wouldnt recognize it because of the accent). And the silly (but clean) romance involving the sergeant was fiction.

The part near the beginning where the soldiers are getting scourged for trying to go to Mass and pray aloud the Ave Maria in their own languages in defiance was really inspiring.

I give it 5 stars. It's a must have Crusader movie.

  • I have the movie. I watched it a while back. Good movie, but it didn't blow me away or anything. Perhaps I'll have to watch it again to see if my opinion changes.
