  • If I knew how, I would embed a video in honor of the BVM

on the Feast of The Assumption.

I am still in shock at Tessa Bonner's death this past New Year's Eve of oral cancer.

She possessed a soprano voice of such perfect clarity, and the sacred polyphony which she sang makes my fallen human nature wonder how can this even happen?  I have lain awake in a sort of terror.

For me, the works of Thomas Tallis cause me to love Christ and His Mother more each and every time.  I can't imagine performing his exquisite, complex, heart-wrending sacred music and not being converted to the true faith.

I hope God will have mercy on Tessa Bonner's soul for giving such beauty to such a profane world.  I don't know if she led a Catholic life, and there are practically no clergy left in UK who would give Last Rites even if asked.

If I listen to Miserere Nostre, I realise I deserve horrible cancer and that I'd better start carrying my crosses with a much better attitude of patience and charity.

  • If Ye Love Me Keep My Commandments (Thomas Tallis)

"If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." - Gospel of St John 14:15-17
