  • This movie is about the Crusades.

Do any of you know this movie? Is there sɛҳuąƖ or indecent scenes in it?

  • According to the Internet Movie Database parents' guide (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0320661/parentalguide?ref_=tt_stry_pg) which is populated by viewers, there is, perhaps, one very short scene that is indecent.

If anyone has seen the movie, I'd like to know if it has any Catholic sense of the Crusades or if it is just the typical anti-Catholic view of the Crusades.

  • I remember seeing the movie years ago. I recall not being overly impressed.

It is about a few incidents in the 1100s, not a Crusade overview or evaluation. I am especially interested in the main character, Baldwin IV of Jerusalem, otherwise known as Baldwin the Leper.  My meager genealogical skills have identified this Christian military commander as my 1st cousin, 23xremoved, so I have been following him for some time.  He was one of the few commanders to defeat infidel armies, most notably at the Battle of Montsigard.

If you don't care for how you get your history, an overview can be found here:

  • The movie was considered neoconservative propaganda when it first came out.   The movie really did its best not to offend Muslims though. The crusaders and priests were all shown in a negative light.   They tried to throw a love story in the movie that didn't really work.    I don't really remember much about it other than it was bad.
