Why does this remind me of Latin?

The cadence is definitely either directly from a liturgical chant form or based there on.

Very interesting!

Sir Tolkien, may God rest his beautiful soul, said that Elvish should be sung “like Gregorian chants,” in an interview he gave in the 1960s.

This is from earlier in the book, that being the Fellowship of the Ring.

Hauntingly beautiful, as the Middle Earth version of a hymn to the Blessed Mother should be.

Ravishingly well done and aesthetically stunning.

Definitely, sounds a lot like Gregorian chorals!

Interesting to hear Tolkien sing in a language invented (or derived) by himself.
