  • Is anyone familiar with where I could find a Rosary Crucifix of the Black Christ?

    Thanks!
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

It's common in various cultures to depict Our Lord, and other biblical personages, with the features, complexion, and so on, of people in those cultures.

European and European-adjacent cultures do the same thing, hence the Nordic-looking portraits such as Sallman's Head of Christ (though He does have dark hair and a vaguely Semitic-looking nose in that picture).

  • All I know is that he most beautiful crucifix I had ever seen was at the Shrine of St Catherine Drexel in Bensalem PA.
The corpus was totally black- maybe it was onyx?),very large but the features of the corpus were not African.

Magnificent- I wish I could find a picture. They closed down the Shrine a few years ago

This is the only pic I could find and you can barely see it- take my word for it , it's beautiful
