    • There's this awful Jesuit saints anthology for children whose appendix contains secular "saints" like the Protestant Martin Luther King, Jr.! And its story of St. Rose of Lima said she liked to hurt herself (Modernist-speak for "doing penance" out of love for Christ)!

    What is a good, orthodox collection of saints biographies for children? TAN probably publishing something.

    • Here's a good freebie:
    In God's Garden by Amy Steedman

    TAN & Neumann are the same company now, but look at Neumann titles if you want a collection of saint stories and TAN titles if you want a book about a single saint. (Neumann has single stories too, but I don't think TAN has any collections of saint stories for children.)

    • Two others you can look up:

    Lives and Legends of the Saints
    Saints: Lives and Illuminations

    I've checked out one from our library and you can see the amazon preview for the other. I don't think you'll find anything crazy in either of these. IIRC, both are mostly one saint per 2-page spread.

    Have a look at this Msgr Robert Hugh Benson book which is part of a set of three. He is a wonderful writer of adult books too. A case in point is his Come Rack Come Rope.
