  • Hey everyone. I'm currently reading William Thomas Walsh's book on Philip II and am finding it really enjoyable. Just a quick recommendation to anyone looking for their next read. Fascinating history.

Also, may I recommend purchasing it from SBP. I was recommended to them by somebody here I got them filled. I found some real gems there (the catechism explainrd, for ecample) at great prices.

  • I second the motion. An excellent book and thick. I think I'll read it for the third time. Thanks for the reminder.

I remember one scene where the Protestant revolutionaries in Belgium paid a group of like 100 thugs to destroy the Catholic Church interiors in like 80 churches. The churches were practically all destroyed except one that was guarded by one man with a pike. None of the thugs wanted to be the first to die. A great example of how one brave man who is willing to die for a cause can ward off 100's.
