  • Wow. I've seen my fair share of great guitar playing, but this is pretty incredible. He makes faces at the camera, to boot!

  • Glen Campbell is the most under-rated guitarist of our age.

  • Glen Campell originally was part of the "Wrecking Crew", the studio session band in California that played on ALL the 60's hits from the Beach Boys to you name them. They made a lot of people famous with their arrangements. Glenn Campell was crazy talented.

Hee Haw was for the most part a white Southern minstrel show, but their musical segments tended to be very good.  This is one example.

  • I myself am a huge fan of "Spanish Guitar" music.  The first time I heard the father of family we knew growing up play like this I was hooked for life:

  • Best live version of Campbell's Wichita Lineman that I've heard. Better than the studio version. As a masterful singer and guitarist his live stuff is often better than his studio stuff:

A great rendition of Dueling Banjos:

  • Incidentally Campbell was raised Baptist but married a Jew in the 1980s and considered himself a "messianic Jew." Oh well.

JTA — Glen Campbell, the country music star who died at 81 on Tuesday from Alzheimer’s, grew up in rural Arkansas. The man who sang hits such as “Rhinestone Cowboy” and “By the Time I Get To Phoenix” was raised a Baptist in a family of 12.
But as the Jєωιѕн Journal pointed out, Reuters reported in 2008 that Campbell had been a Messianic Jew for the last two decades of his life. He and his wife Kim attended services at a ѕуηαgσgυє near their home in Malibu, and they celebrated major Jєωιѕн holidays, such as Passover, Rosh Hashanah and Hanukkah.

  • Great pickin', but I miss the steel guitar and vocals, especially Johnny Cash's baritone:
