From a Catholic perspective, any thoughts on Grimms' Fairy Tails? Good? Bad? Neutral?

For some reason, they always gave me the creeps as a child. They still do.

Neutral. I look at them as European folklore. By modern sensibilities they might be "shocking", but they're not immoral.

For what it is worth, Dr. David Allen White saw Grimm's and other fairytales as ultimately beneficial and a part of Catholic culture. He described them as "one of the glues that held generations together."

He talks about fairytales in detail in the middle of his intro talk about David Copperfield:

Not saying this is necessarily the only Catholic viewpoint on the subject, but definitely worth a listen.
