  • I recently picked up some encaustic wax paint. I am not having much luck with it so far, but it is an interesting medium that I think should lend itself well to collage paintings.

    It is actually just beeswax with pigment in it in a shallow pan and you melt it then pick it up with a brush.

    They recommend using an electric pancake griddle to hold the pans of paint, but I found a small coffee-cup warmer for $5 that does the trick.

    I can't seem to control it very well, so far, but I am able to use it as a coating on dried flowers.

    Anyone else using this type of paint? Or any other interesting medium?
