  • This isn't even classical music, from this clip the movie seems to be mocking nuns by portraying them as boring or old fashioned because they are hesitant to participate in this jazzy blues dance style music, that type of music never belongs in a church. I wish i could downvote but i can't.

  • This one's unique and really good in my opinion. I think the composer was Catholic.

From what i've seen in this thread we have very similar music taste. I love baroque organ music.

Here's one of my favourites from Bach:

This is wonderful, listening to pieces like these live on a powerful organ in a cathedral is an unbeatable experience.

I've heard it played by an organ and liked a couple renditions, except for when they use an overpowering reed stop in place of a singer, which completely ruins it.

There's a lot of great music I'd post, but I personally draw the line when the performance is in the sanctuary. It's just too distracting knowing some churches have been converted into concert halls.

Post all of the great music, don't hold back!

Yeah it's a shame how many of the churches are just concert halls but when it's in a protestant church it doesn't bother me because i don't think God was ever really there in the first place.

There is a Catholic Cathedral in my city dating back to the 12th century, it was taken over by protestants during the reformation and now they host concerts in the sanctuary and sell beer during them.

(I'm still not sure if the performer above is gαy or just very flamboyant and effeminate)

  • Some French Baroque organ treasures:

Interestingly, the organ at the Royal Chapel of Versailles is one of the only original French baroque organs to survive until the present day, all others had been destroyed or replaced with later sound styles, the fact that this instrument has the authentic baroque sound aswell as being in a beautiful chapel makes these performances so much more special
