    • It has to be Beethoven's Ninth.  I believe that was Bp. Williamson's favorite.  He had the entire seminary listen to it and I thought that he was going to be caught up in the Rapture he was so excited.

    It is a delight to listen to. To sing could be considered a penance unto itself. A vocalist or someone who could write for the voice he was not.

    • I asked Bp. Williamson one day in seminary, "My Lord, you are on a desert island and you only get to pick one piece of music."  I think he picked a Mozart piece, to which I replied, "You break my heart by not choosing Beethoven's Ninth."    

    And he said, "How about you Mr. Shepherd?"  "Well, my Lord, do I get to pick between Bethoven's Ninth and Pink Floyd The Wall?"
