    • I have often heard in sermons and other brief references that St. Alphonsus was brutally tried by innumerable crosses, especially after the founding of his Order. Physical maladies, and the terrible calumny against him that caused the Pope to distrust and remove him from his own brethren. 

    Do any of you know of a biography that docuмents the whole mess?
