  • Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • This is amazing

I came across this rendition of the Agni Parthene hymn many years ago, sung in Church Slavonic. It is I believe the most beautiful rendition of the hymn. I have done my best to learn it. Being of Polish descent helps.
That the Norse version uses the same hymnody is fascinating.

Da pacem Domine in diebus nostris
    Qui non est alius
    Qui pugnet pro nobis
    Nisi  tu Deus noster

  • "Be not therefore solicitous for tomorrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof." [Matt. 6:34]

"In all thy works remember thy last end, and thou shalt never sin." [Ecclus. 7:40]

"A holy man continueth in wisdom as the sun: but a fool is changed as the moon." [Ecclus. 27:12]

  • This is interesting because it's not in conventional Western meter. Balkan music is very big on odd and uneven meter which gives it the dance feel you see here.

  • If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you [John 15:19]
