  • Dear Cathinfo,

I asked this question over at Fisheaters, with no results yet.  I'm looking for a particular news story that you guys might have come across.

About a month ago or longer, I came across a headline.  It was an article of some sort of official or a critic who stated that fairytales are a bad thing for children, that they lead them towards unhealthy pursuits such as Christianity.

I really really wanted to read it, but I've lost it.  I don't remember where I saw it.  I was hoping one of you have come across it.  I might have seen it on Spirit Daily.  But I did a search there today, and haven't come across the article at all.

Anyone know the article I'm talking about?

  • That does not surprise me. The Brothers Grimm were Calvinists. While that is not a laudable thing to see into being devout Catholics, atheists would see the religious undertones of their works as threatening to their beliefs.

EDIT: I see you post on FE. Same name and avatar. I post with a different name there.

Yeah, I figured I'd ask the same question here, since I haven't gotten any answers there yet.

  •   Really? I thought atheists advocated freedom in all things. I didn't know they were capable of prohibiting anything.
Fairy tales advocate marriage and consider it a bliss. They depict totally feminine heroines and manly princes. So it can be one of reasons why they hate fairy tales.

There are many different kinds of atheists. In China under Mao Zedong, atheism was a part of the "Cultural Revolution" which sought to ban or destroy everything pre-communist: literature, architecture, philosophy, whatever. In the West, there arises a new breed of atheism which is as dogmatic about being devoid of belief as any religious person could be about religion. It's pathetic.
