(article states orthodox, but lets face it, no split at time, all were Catholic!) Of note, Michael Davies I recall thought same time frame, Welsh monks came to new world, interesting article on http://www.millersville.edu/~columbus/papers/wrhagen.html

  • I don't doubt it.  I would not be surprised at all if some of the Apostles visited the people of the Americas.  In fact, it would not shock me to learn that the Gospel had been preached in the whole world within the first century AD.

I am not sure it would include whole world, but not far off either.....ancient man was not as "primitive" per se as we think.....

  • It doesn't surprise me, either. Europeans and Near Easterners had been visiting the Americas for a long time. Irish monks, under St. Brendan the Navigator, also spent sometime in the Americas. In Los Lunas, New Mexico there is an ancient Paleo-Hebrew inscription at the base of Mystery Mountain (also called Hidden Mountain) which an abbreviated form of the Ten Commandments as written in Exodus 20.

I would also recommend America B.C. - Ancient Settlers in the New World by Barry Fell if anyone is interested in this subject.

Indeed. A victory for Neoplatonism over Aristotelian Thomism?
    Pray for me, always.
