Here’s a beautiful rendition that seems to be based in part on the Face of Our Lord portrayed on the Shroud:

I don't have any idea whatsoever where they got that caveman image of Our Lord.

Maybe they're eventually trying to morph to a Black Jesus.

Thanks.  It's amazing how close the images from "Classical Antiquity" got ... compared to the Shroud.  That's just a reflection of the fact that Tradition was strong.  Just as these images very much resemble Our Lord on the Shroud, so too the DOCTRINE of "Classical Antiquity" (i.e. that of the Fathers) also closely mirrors what was taught by Our Lord.

So, the image here that forms the basis of the animation was actually determined from various "depth" data on the Shroud, where they could actually determine the "distance" away from the Shroud of the various features of Christ and were therefore able to construct the 3D image.  According to Ray Downing, who put together the 3D image, it was based on some 3D encoding that "shouldn't be there".  So much for the clowns who kept claiming this was a medieval forgery.  I still recall Wojtyla insisting "publish it" (with it referring to the conclusion it was a Medieval forgery based on fake carbon dating)

Depth on a 2D image is impossible. The fact that the material should have decomposed, blood that's caked on there hasn't decomposed, 3D on a 2D image is proof enough that it isn't "a medieval forgery".
