Title: Advent music and Christmas carols
Post by: Neil Obstat on December 16, 2013, 04:06:30 PM
.

I find a lot of pleasure in focusing on Advent music during Advent.  I get a kind of joy out of it that goes way back, because over years of experience, I've learned that Advent music is most enjoyable during Advent and after Advent is over, it's not all that enjoyable anymore because then Christmas music takes over with overwhelming power.

But that power of Christmas music to overwhelm is greatly amplified when Advent music has been thoroughly enjoyed DURING ADVENT, in anticipation of the Nativity.

Therefore, anyone who skips Advent music, and just starts delving into Christmas music long before Christmas, is only cheating himself out of appreciation for Christmas music in particular, and out of his appreciation for Christmas itself in general.

Here is a fun trivia question:  What size were the 3 Kings of the Orient?

"Wee Three Kings of Orient are -- bearing gifts we traverse afar..."   :furtive:

This is my favorite.
