To the person who wrote this, I feel very sorry for you.

  • Oh so what if she defrosts meat on the floor, it's in the package. Husband needs to live with it until eventually she stops doing that. Patience!!

  • Women aren’t always feminine.  Women constantly change.  I’m sure the OP’s wife was feminine when they got married.  But now she isn’t.

  • Canon Law Text (1917 Code of Canon Law)
    Can. 1128
    Quote
Latin: "Coniuges duo debent conjugali studio habitare, nisi iusta causa eos aegerit."
English: "Spouses are bound to live together in conjugal relations, unless a just cause excuses them."

    Can. 1129 – On Adultery
    Quote
English: "If one has committed adultery, the innocent spouse has the right to terminate conjugal life even permanently, unless they tacitly or expressly condone it within six months."

    Can. 1130 – On Reconciliation
    Quote
English: "The innocent spouse, having lawfully left the adulterer, is not obliged to admit the guilty spouse back—unless they later consent to reconciliation or live together again."

Can. 1131 – Other Serious Causes
    Quote
    Latin excerpt:
“Si alter coniux sectae acatholicae nomen dederit; si prolem acatholice educaverit; si vitam criminosam et ignominiosam ducat; si grave seu animae seu corporis periculum alteri facessat; si saevitiis vitam communem nimis difficilem reddat, haec aliaque id genus…”
     English translation:
“If a spouse joins a non‑Catholic sect; educates the children in a non‑Catholic manner; leads a criminal or dishonorable life; inflicts grave bodily or spiritual danger; or by cruelties renders life together too difficult—these and similar reasons are legitimate causes to separate, by the diocesan bishop or even on one’s own authority if delay would bring danger.

:laugh1:  Is the wife a danger to the husband?  Has she threatened his life?  Has she attempted violence?  I don't think so.  She's just a raging, feminist wacko.

If there's no danger, then you can't separate without approval from the Church.

No, not necessarily ... look at the first line in the Canon where it states "grave bodily or spiritual danger".

So, no it does not have to be physical danger or violence only.  I can see situations where great spiritual harm can be done by non-physical means ... leading to great anxiety, depression, which in turn might lead to various kinds of sins, etc.

  • Does the husband leaving solve the problem?  I would think you'd only leave if you thought the situation was hopeless.  Leaving isn't going to fix the wife's attitude, because she's already threatened to kick him out.  So if the husband leaves, it's for personal reasons.

Yes, she proved that she was a danger. She was gonna call the cops on him and get him falsely arrested. Why would anyone want to stick around for that? In the court system, women can manipulate and the man wouldn't have a chance. Not the OP.

If the husband leaves over defrosting meat on the floor, then that only serves to prove that both were too immature when they got married. They'll grow out of it, why all this talk of canon law and leaving?

That was the straw that broke the camel's back, the last straw. If you read the entire thread, you would have figured out their dynamic genius. Ok, boomer, they'll figure it out.

  • If the meat is still on the floor, it’s full of maggots by now. Pick it up with a shovel and bury it. Clean the floor area thoroughly with bleach. When it’s completely dry, finish it off with a slightly moistened rag with a little Murphy’s Oil Soap or Lemon Oil Polish.

  • This whole thread is a disaster of "advice".  The wife is off her rocker, nuts.  I pray for the husband and the child.  The people who are apologizing for the wife's actions need a reality check.  You guys are just as nuts as her.

  • Wife has resorted to name calling me today. I thought she was getting better, but no, she is becoming more abusive. I have setup an appointment to see a priest. Obviously it will be just me going because that's out of the question for her currently.
