  • Why do people abuse the Anonymous forum?

    As Matthew says:
"Members can post here anonymously for legitimate reasons. For first-hand chapel reports, ?????l??ls??ng, sensitive/personal questions, and any other legitimate occasion for ansnymity. Abuse of this subforum (using ansnymity as a cloak for malice, to prevent downvotes, etc.) will be met with disciplinary action, including exposure of your screen name or being banned."

First hand chapel reports are legit. Especially when dealing with a person with an online record of being a layman who is currently presenting himself as a priest at OLHC. This person refuses to show proof of ordination, refuses to show his drivers license, has a Buddhist altar in his home and according to the phone number he gave for his Chinese antique shop, has two email addresses with another word for orgy. Those of us who go to that chapel need to protect ourselves from another Colletti (child-abusing laicized priest who also was never vetted) betrayal by Fr. Perez.

But what’s up with these topics?

  • For reasons of self-protection from an associated third party.
Meaning, anonymity is necessary to oneself.

You are literally abusing the anonymous forum by starting ANOTHER thread about Fr Perez’s unvetted priest

  • OP, ask yourself that question! No need to start another anon thread.

  • I am generous (not to say "liberal") when it comes to what I allow to be posted here. I give users the benefit of the doubt -- if I can think of a possible good reason, I let it stand.

It's only when it's an OBVIOUS abuse of the subforum (to avoid downvotes, to slander a person or CathInfo member, etc.) that I get upset and consider disciplinary action.

As for those truly malicious, thinking they can get away with whatever -- all I can say is, "Try me."

Long story short, you have to annoy ME to meet with disciplinary action. What will push you over the line? I'm going to leave that in a bit of mystery. Honest users will have nothing to fear. As for those not so upright: again, "Try me." You go a bit too far, you'll find the proverbial "boom" has been lowered on you.

The question is, do you feel lucky, punk? Well, do you?"
    or
    Go ahead, make my day.

  • I'm more concerned about the influx of weirdos on this forum lately. We have one guy who has the most pompous use of language, unironically, I have ever seen and another who refers to themselves in the third person and posts every significant response as an image.
