Need I mention, as trads so often do, that just because a pope may have said or done something, it does not mean it was infallible, correct, or even advisable?

Contemporary America embraces and funds with tax dollars abortion.  Allows gαy marriage.  Is a masonic state from top to bottom.  Divorce is common.  Small families are the norm because the culture teaches that children are not a gift from God but a burden to be avoided.

I think the CSA was a big step up morally from the contemporary USA.  

Pius IX probably recognized the USA as a masonic and evil state that would become rapacious in it's ugliness.  

Pius IX probably did not foresee the invention of the atomic bomb and how the US would drop bombs incinerating women and children, largely for the fun of it because Japan was already trying to surrender as early as 1943 (and even if this isn't so, incinerating women and children in war is no different that what the nαzιs have ever done.)  The dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was the proverbial "baptism" of the U.S. Air Force.
