  • How do you think one should handle a fellow poster who says things that seem contrary to what you know about them in real life? Do you call them out on the board or send them a private message?

  • I see this/these poster/posters state some very judgmental and unforgiving things that really shock. Just plain nasty.... we have forgotten about the beam in our own eye.

  • Rebuke him in private only if, after prayer, it will likely have a good effect.  Be sure of a pure motivation.  If he won't listen, try again with another trustworthy person.  If still to no avail, PM Matthew.
But if there is no particular harm being done, or you don't know the person a
Lot that well, just pray.  Read Our Lord's words, St. Matthew, chapter 18.

It is shocking and plain nasty that sodomy is taking over the Catholic Church.

This one poster condemns people who act a certain way/example but I know of certain actions of this person that happened publicly and caused scandal.

First, is the condemnation justified?  After all, even if he has caused scandal in some area, his condemnation may still be valid.
Second, Is exposing this scandal to the forum--most of whom have no idea who this person is "in real life"--information that people need to know?

It seems that the post is asking for permission to engage in detraction.

No-not looking for permission- looking for advice.
Do I send this person a private message or just hide their posts? I am thinking the latter would be the better choice.

You have to private message them to correct their errors.
