  • The only time I've set foot in a NO church is when I visit Missions and a very old church (with papal blessing from Pope Pius XI) that is a mile from work with a pre-VII ordained priest I go to for confession.

I must confess, the latter has been pretty traditional. Fr. Louis Marx has things quite under control there; women in modest skirts, chapel veils, etc. Sure there are some who are in pants and men not dressed appropriately; but you can tell it isn't a majority of parishioners.

I still kneel in front of the tabernacle there; it's still where its supposed to be. But I will not attend mass there, as Fr. Marx isn't the only priest who says mass there- there are younger priests there as well.

  • I pray the Rosary in a very old n.o. church in Manhattan (NYC).  It's beautifully adorned; not wreckovated.  It even smells right.  I don't go for mass, just to pray in a holy atmoshere.

  • The last time I set foot in a Novus Ordo church was the Saturday before the second Sunday of May in 2005.

I had been having more and more difficulty with the Novus Ordo for some time prior and had actually made the decision to begin attending only the traditional Mass but planned to make the switch sometime during that summer.  But on the first Sunday of May, the priest at the parish decided to use his own, more inclusive words for various prayers during the service going so far as to say his own words for the consecration.  I was dumbfounded.  I sat back trying to figure out if I really did hear the priest say what he said when my wife sat back and looked at me quizzically and asked if she heard him say what he said.  I knew I could not allow my kids (who, at the time, really didn't pay that much attention to Mass and didn't know anything was awry) to go to Communion since it was clear that the consecration the priest used clearly didn't have the same meaning as even the official Novus Ordo consecration.  We got up and left.

The following week, I had a commitment to attend my God-daughter's first Communion at another parish--more a "mega-Church" kind of parish.  First communion was to be at the Saturday night Mass, though it was at about 4:00 pm.  Seating was limited and they were allowed only one guest.  When I went in, it sounded like an arena.  The chatter was loud and rambunctious.  I was stunned.  Even at the pretty liberal parish I had before gone to, the congregation was fairly quiet.  My God-daughter's father stood up waiving his arms so I could see where they were sitting.  I have not been to a Novus Ordo since.

Through the end of May, I attended Mass at the parish where the FSSP indult Mass was.  The church looked very traditional though it had both the traditional Mass and the Novus Ordo there.  After receiving a reply from the archbishop to my letter about the priest's Mass in which I explained what happened, why I didn't speak with him, and asked if the sacrament was valid, I understood that the archbishop had no concern over the integrity of the sacrament and wouldn't even answer my concerns.  He was just sorry that I "had a bad experience."

Beginning in June, we began attending Mass at an independent chapel.

I haven't been to a Novus Ordo, or even stepped foot in any parish since.

  • I attend them occasionally to see what has changed. The new English translation is less blatantly incorrect, but it still pales in the face of Cranmer's invalid Mass.

Priests are now heard overtly preaching in favor of women priests, gαy marriage etc., whereas only two years ago they were not. Few of the laity are not heretics.

The vast majority of the NO Church priests and laity are of a new religion that cannot be called Catholicism.

    It is incredible.

It's not the same religion.  It took me a long time to figure that out growing up.

At some level I believed they believed.  I shouldn't have been so naive.

  • Last time I attended the services in the Novus Ordo was after the  Canon of the Mass was changed in 1968.  I attend weddings and funerals.  I do not take part in the services

  • The Novus Ordo Church near my house has a replica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. I used to go there and pray in front of the image.

  • The novus ordo is idolatry.
