  • I have had certain problems in the Church that frankly caused me momentarily to want to LEAVE the Church. I speak of rude priests/parishioners and other things.

Of course, i have studied catholicism and know too much. I have spent time in the Real PResence and that is soemthing i will never, ever give up.. so aint goin anywhere--LOVE the Holy Mass!

But still, it is sad when people feel they want to leave, even if only for an angry hour or so...

so anyway, i am wondering what your worst Church story is? I am sure everyone has one or two.

here is one of mine: priests who act like they do not want to hear what you are saying in confession. They interrupt, argue, act like you dont know anything... and etc... SO annoying

(I just realized this is  a site--i think--for those who have a problem with the conventional Catholic Church... right? Well, i have not left, but...)

    thanks for sharing   :smirk:

  • Well, I have never had the problems you relate in the confessional.  Before I found tradition, I didn't really have to worry about confession--I was seldom at a parish that had any kind of regular confessions.  The only problem I have with traditional priests is that they tell me that I should come to confession more often!  But they certainly don't seem disinterested in me or interrupt me.

Things that have tempted me to want to leave?  Let me count them:

    1.  I have to pay attention at Mass.

    2.  Sometimes, I just don't feel like praying the rosary.

    3.  Abstaining on Fridays.  And what is it about Ember Days?  They seem to come around every other week!

    4.  Having to fast during Lent.

    5.  It takes two hours to get to and from Mass.

Going back to the Novus Ordo would be so much easier, but then I'd lose my soul.  The Catholic faith is a difficult faith to live.  The Novus Ordo is just so easy but leads straight to hell.

No, this forum is not for people "who have a problem with the conventional Catholic Church".  This forum is for traditional Catholics.  Of course, this forum also has members on it that are fans of the "conventional Church", right poche?

  • The Catholic Church is one of the hardest to live in, but it's the best to die in!

There a famous quote to that effect.

I didn't know it was famous.  My mother she used to say, "The Catholic faith is the hardest to live by but the easiest to die by."

You can quote her on that!

  • Nothing, by God's Will alone, has ever tempted me to want to leave the Church. Not the worst Horror story of a priest or parishoner or pope, not the actions of those at all the parishes I've ever attended (Novus Ordo or Traditional). All of the negative influences I've encountered are nothing more than the failings of men who run the Church of God (or attend it). May God grant that I always feel this way.

I may feel like "leaving" the company of those who affect me. But I know with God-given certainty that there is no where else to go but to wish to be united to the Bride of Christ. If you know Christ, the teaching of his Apostles and their Faith, you know that nothing should cause you to want to leave the Church, even momentarily. Everything else is hell, and I sure as hell (pun intended) don't want to go there.... for eternity

    Absolutely!

It reminds me of what an old Cistercian monk (in Scotland) said to Malcolm Muggeridge:

    Quote
Muggeridge: When you are doing all this outdoor work on the farm, aren't you sometimes hungry?

Oliver [monk]: Yes, you sometimes come home tired. And although the bed is a hard one, you know the old saying that the Cistercian bed is hard to lie on, but it's sweet to die on.

  • Do I desire to go to hell for eternity? I would never leave the true faith because my answer to the prior question will always be no.

  • Where would we go?

If Catholicism isn't the true faith, none of them are.

OP, it is clear that you have not experienced tradition.

Those priests you have described above are part of what you call "the conventional Catholic Church", which many of us here call the Novus Ordo or the NO church. Novus Ordo is Latin for New Order, and as the words suggest are in direct opposition to tradition, i.e. what has been passed down to us from the apostles, since the first days of the Church. The Novus Ordo - which name derives from the new mass established by Paul 6 - has largely come about since the Second Vatican Council which literally turned the Church on its head. It was a revolution.

Yes, I can imagine that you have been tempted to leave the Catholic Church, especially if you are in the NO, but hang about and learn more about the true Faith and the true Mass and Sacraments. May God bless you and a blessed 2017.

Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • I have been beaten. I have been threatened with death. I have been called every dirty name in the book. I have remained a Catholic.
I ask you to pray for me that in the next trial I will remain faithful.

    Hi Poche,

Can you elaborate on how you been prosecuted for holding the Catholic faith?
Is this coming from society or your family?  If it is too personal to discuss I understand. Just curious.

    God bless!

  • Being a true traditional catholic brought my siblings and mother to despise me and my family.  It is what communism calls, destruction of the family, one of the things they do well.

I am reading a book, "Communism and the Conscience of the West" by Fulton Sheen.

I know Fulton Sheen has some sour notes, but his writings are very good, and his ducks are all in a row.  I read slow and sometimes re read until I think I have the understanding before reading more.  Communism is a science.  Christ came to bring truth and Hegel, Marx, Luther and etc bring on the lies and destruction.

    New Order

i have never had access, to speak of, to the Traditional Mass, although i much prefer it. . do not like the new changes of Vatican II.

Thank God they got rid of that hand holding nonsense, though!
