What do you do for fun?

  • I suffer from stress induced TMJ, teeth grinding, and migraines caused by severe muscle tension. Relaxing and fun actvities seem to help, in addition to exercise. What I have trouble with is finding things to do that are relaxing and fun. I don't mean hobbies, because I have plenty of those, especially productive practical ones. I have an established prayer and sacramental life.

So, what do you all do to relax and unwind outside of regular hobbies?

  • Do you mean fun activities other than reading/posting on anonymous threads on Cathinfo?

The threads might not be always educational, but they usually are entertaining!

  • I read trad forums with alcohol.

You can't really have one without the other!
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

I flatfoot to old-time bluegrass music if nobody is looking.
     :roll-laugh1:  :jester: :roll-laugh2:
I read or listen to jokes.  I look up misprint lists on-line.
     :reading:
I stretch out with a bowl of popcorn and a favorite book.
     :alcohol:  :clown:
I visit friends and discuss nothing serious.
     :sign-surrender: :soapbox:
I soak in bubble bath before going to bed.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • Go to a beach that is not too busy.  Sit in a beach chair and look at the Ocean, God's magnificent creation.

Frances you're a gem!!! Dancing to bluegrass is a wonderful way to pass the time!

As for me, for fun and relaxation I will:
    Play the piano
Sing to my dog (she really does enjoy it!)
Play cards with anyone who will play with me
Sit on my front porch and watch the world go by
Take a walk in the woods or prairie with a field guide to identify plants or birds or what have you.
Thumb through cookbooks (this sounds so fun right now)
Make a crafty item (or if you're a man, you could whittle or something)
    Experiment with herbs and wine
Sit by the creek and count the little minnows swimming by your feet
Look at stars with binoculars, or just lay and contemplate them

Just making that list was relaxing. Thank you for the reminder!
Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.

  • I hope all of you find time to say your prayers.

For fun I enjoy my garden, if its not too hot outside.

Facebooking is fun since most of my friends there are decent folks and post funny things.  I also like to make up funny images and post them on Facebook.

Singing and dancing, a little bit of zumba, when I'm alone in the house.

Ohhhh.......... Occasionally I have been known to start uncharitable threads in the anonymous section. Sorry everyone, please accept my apologies.

If it makes you feel better, I bet it is relaxing. Prayers for a speedy recovery, then?
