  • Some (not all) anti-sedevacantists, and some (not all) sedevacantists seem to take great delight in going out of their way to antagonize the other group.

    Why?

  • Probably because they don't realize that neither sedeplenism nor sedevacantism saves you, and that our position on whether or not the Chair of Peter is empty will likely be irrelevant on Judgement Day.

  • The vilification of sedevacantism was a necessary step in bringing the SSPX into conciliarism.

Whereas in the 80s the SSPV needed a flag to rally around.

It's a real problem, that is exploited for political purposes, and unfortunately sincere people get caught up in the mutual excommunications.

    This is wrong.

  • Too many people are tied up in their own ego.  They absolutely must be right, is how their thinking goes.  It's vanity, really.

  • Lack of charity on the non-sedevacantist side.

  • Refusing to believe that someone is the vicar of Christ who in his writings shows that he doesn't believe in the resurrection of the body (and in fact rejects all supernatural faith) is to be schismatic and to be damned.

That is a form of insanity.

  • Our souls are saved by adhering to the Catholic faith.

So, where does the Pope come in on all of this?  Post Vatican II, why, what the pope says IS Catholicism and this is a mentality that is not to be found in any devotional book of the past.  None of the Traditional Catholic prayers say this.  If it was really important to follow the pope no matter what, wouldn't one of the great saints or even one of the great popes of the past mention this?

The post-concilliar "catholics" think that the pope can even change the very words of Our Lord and Savior.

Now, it's okay for the sedevacantists and the SSPX to thrash it out amongst themselves because this will help the person seeking the truth to analyze what is put before him.

Ok, so which position do you believe is necessary for salvation?

You are wrong because the sedes and the non-sedes are not fighting over that!

There is too much charity on the sedevacantist side.

    Why?

Because some (not all) sedevacantists cannot use logic! And when you throw this raw fact to their faces, they act like undisciplined school children who are denied their medication.

Some of us are getting sick of the rank arrogance and bullying of these supercilious sedevacantists who impose their poorly-argued opinions as dogmatic facts.

Even some of the sedes have abandoned sedevacantism for this reason, among many other things.

Yes, just like every other category of Catholics, and humans, some sedevacanntists are difficult to reason with.

    Darn humans!
