  • I often have dreams in which I am cleaning a room or house, doing laundry, sorting junk and clutter, mopping, cleaning away built-up grime,  dust and cobwebs, often cleaning filthy bathrooms. They are very realistic, but nothing really happens other than just cleaning, scrubbing, doing mundane chores. I wake up tired and feeling somewhat cheated in that I feel as if I have just spent hours working and have nothing to show for it.

Does this happen to anyone else or is it just me? I know that this is a strange question to ask, but I have no basis of comparison here, and it would be weird just to go about asking people what they dream.

  • Do you go to bed or wake up with a headache for some natural reason? This can filter into your dreams.

  • If one of the prevailing problems in your life is that you feel cheated by lack of compensation for menial work you do in your dreams, then you've got a pretty charmed life.

Give thanks to God that He has given you a cross to bear (however small) and offer it up.

  • Repeated dreams, I think, would signify that some problem is still there waiting to be cleaned out. Something there you are not dealing with? Repentance? Confession? Just a few off-the-cuff thoughts.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • You can dream about what you're anxious about during the day, this is your brain trying to sort away the anxiety while you're asleep.

Or if you have a headache while asleep, say due to grinding your teeth, or a hard mattress, you dream about something headache giving due to association.

  • What Nadir said.
People attribute all sorts of crazy interpretations to dreams but dreams are easy to figure out.  They're usually just a reflection of our worries.  The body needs to rest, so does the brain.  If there are underlying troubles, it's function is to work it out to allow rest.  Even when a dream seems very bizarre, the message is obvious if you just look at it in this practical manner.  God designed us brilliantly!
I agree that you may have something needing to be cleaned up.  If you're dreaming this a lot, I presume it's an ongoing issue.  God bless you.

have you been to a sleep specialist? Waking up tired after a night's sleep could be indicative of a medical problem.
