    Of course, though someone who won't have a chance to go to Confession for a while might have to make a judgment call, which is probably why he's asking here.  It's always the "probably" stuff that really gets to scrupulous people, and scrupulosity almost by definition relates to being unable to make a judgment with absolute certainty regarding the matter, which is unattainable for the scrupulous individual, and thus their churn.  There's a good chance the priest would just be guessing also, and one priest might guess differently than another, etc.

  • Well, the sin needn't become physical to possibly commit a mortal sin, as there can be mortal sins of thought alone as well, but what OP described doesn't sound like it.
      
    Right, that’s a good point but from what he posted here it doesn’t seem like it’s a mortal sin but I’m no priest just a layperson.

    I believe there are a couple priests here on CI, and perhaps they could chime in.  I would say to PM the poster, except the post is anonymous.
