  • Do traditionalist parents take photos of their naked newborn baby?  The baby would probably be within 2 years of age.  That is the photo I am referring to.  Is that something that trads do?  I know modern people do this, but we are not to be like the worldly.  So, I want to know if any do this.  Personally, I do not like it.

  • stop thinking of yourself as separate from the world like the amish, you're not. the only thing that separates trads from other people is going to a Mass that's older than the NO. just because "modern people" do something does not make it bad per se. by using a computer and having internet access, healthcare and many other amenities, you are by default a "modern person".

I am starting a circus.  Is there any way I could get into contact with the parents of this 2 year old newborn?

Wow!  So this is what you believe?

Ever hear the phrase "in the world but not of the world?"

    John 17:14 - 19

  • As I was sitting in the doctors office the other day, waiting for my prenatal appointment, I was looking at the wall filled with naked baby pictures. And I thought, "No one is taking pictures of my baby naked."
Personal preference? Maybe. But the thought unsettles me.

    I'm not the OP, btw.
Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.
    ~James 1:27

  • I guess that these pictures are too offensive for the prude, seudo-Protestant Amish "trads" around here. Like if we Catholics did not have bigger problems to think about!

Those pictures are much different than the ones the OP is speaking of, and you know it. Come off your high horse, please.

Pics are a case-by-case basis.  This is what I take issue with:

"the [sic] only thing that separates trads from other people is going to a Mass that's older than the NO."

This is many levels and numerous angles of wrongness.  I'm not sure whether you are seeking the "Laxest Catholic of the Year Award" or the "Honorary Chief of General Dumb-Assery" designation.

  • I remember reading a quote from the Cure of Ars where he said you shouldn't show your baby to others when he is naked so he probably wouldn't approve of naked photos of your baby. But as everyone knows he was a Jansenist pseudo-protestant Amish "trad" so we shouldn't take his opinion seriously.

  • I was taught that it is important to protect the dignity of those who are too young, old, infirm, ect- meaning not to allow them to expose themselves immodestly if they lack understanding.

So I guess the Eastern Catholics are not protecting the dignity of their infants when they are baptized. Should we sue them? We are in the US. They are, after all, submerged in water three time NAKED. Poor babies, being this abused.

And no, I do not think a mother commits a mortal or venial sin for taking a picture of her newborn babe. It is ridiculous. Maybe she should exercise some prudence and good judgment in exposing the picture to strangers or in the social media; but she does not commit a sin by simply taking private or family pictures. So if this not something which is offending to God, then what is the problem?

  • What a bad mother, allowing her naked babe to be watched publicly by strangers and handled by a priest, during this baptismal ceremony.   (This is of course, a sarcasm)

Oh come off it already. Again, completely different scenario. You either lack common sense, or are simply a troll. Either way, you may want to take a moment to check yourself.
