I'm going to go out on a limb here and conclude you aren't married and are completely clueless how this works. 
I’m going to speculate that you are okay with a married woman kicking her husband out to sleep on the couch.

I assume that the marital debt doesn’t get met because they sleep apart based on experiences with family members. And they ended up getting a divorce or their marriage involves the woman ruling over it (feminism).

Are we talking about the couple sleeping in separate beds, or the woman withholding or refusing the marriage debt? Because those are two different things. If those were the same thing they wouldn't require different words to describe them.

I have seen old tv shows where married couples each have their own twin bed in the same room. Maybe it was like that back in the day?
