"There's a mix of passion and shortsightedness in me, even when I'm positive that I'm doing my very best to see things for what they are, that warns me that I'll never know for sure. Undoubtedly I must follow the truth I can see, I have no choice and I must live on; but that is for me only, not to impose on others." - Fr. Leonardo Castellani

  • Is your avatar a picture of Savonarola? I just watched a talk by Michael Davies about Savonarola on youtube. He was a sedevacantist. I wonder if he is in heaven.

  • Yes it is. While the Church has always been ambivalent towards Savonarola because of his spat with Alexander VI, St. Philip Neri and St. Catherine de Ricci considered him a holy man and had a personal devotion to him, which didn't prevent them from being canonized.

  • It's neat because the number 1488 represents Hitler, who was actually good.

There is on our earth a class of men deserving of quite especial charity and compassion, and yet we refuse them charity and compassion more than we do others. The class I refer to consists of those whom we call great men. [...] Ordinary men - and above all, peculiarly little men - experience a certain charm, a certain pleasure, in attacking great men. There is much of the spirit of revenge mixed up with this pleasure. - Ernest Hello

Adolf Hitler was such a great man.

Are you serious?  I honestly can't tell.

If I weren't at the hospital, I'd post a jpeg of Hitler ice cream.

If you are going to talk about Hitler then I think we should talk about Mit Brennender Sorge.

  • Fascinating link, by Poche.  Never read this before.

Whoever exalts race, or the people, or the State, or a particular form of State, or the depositories of power, or any other fundamental value of the human community - however necessary and honorable be their function in worldly things - whoever raises these notions above their standard value and divinizes them to an idolatrous level, distorts and perverts an order of the world planned and created by God; he is far from the true faith in God and from the concept of life which that faith upholds.

This is a bit in conflict with many in the Alt-Right movement.

    A) Read Mit Brennender Sorge.

    B) "In 1937, Hans Kerrl, the nαzι Minister for Church Affairs, explained "Positive Christianity" as not "dependent upon the Apostle's Creed", nor in "faith in Christ as the son of God", upon which Christianity relied, but rather, as being represented by the nαzι Party: "The Fuehrer is the herald of a new revelation", he said."

Opposition to racial segregation and racist hatred by whatever name has always been an important part of the tradition of the Catholic Church.

Hatred is wrong.  Segregation is not.  In fact, in this current time, segregation would do a better job of protecting the Faithful, especially the young, and keeping them in the faith, than what integration--as proven--does at converting.
