Title: thinking of joining "The Resistance"
Post by: Änσnymσus on June 29, 2020, 02:51:57 PM
I'm an SSPX parishioner, and my church's parish life feels "tense". It's as though charity has grown cold.
There seems to be a lot of distrust and suspicion among parishioners. My wife has no friends at the parish.
Anyone else here experience similar things in the SSPX?

None of those are good reasons to leave a parish

What caused it?

Not in themselves, but they are a sign there could be a deeper problem. Bad fruit = bad tree.

Or your impressions and feelings could be off. That's why basing a decision like this off entirely subjective criteria is a mistake. Banezian is correct.

entirely subjective criteria
Not "entirely subjective". I have theological reasons, as I'm a sedevacantist (although not an anti-"una cuм"… yet).

As usual, the liberals within the SSPX control the "parish life".
I recommend the resistance.
I would be excited to find other people that are "suspicious". They sound like the thinking type....
The type that you might want to befriend because they have not yet been brainwashed by Bishop Fellay's charming smile.

This needs to be mended. As a sedevacantist you are a dead branch cut off from the vine. You will never have peace or charity without re-joining the Body of Christ on earth, the Church, under Pope Francis, and you will be a a tumbleweed in the desert, blowing from here to there in the wind, finding rest nowhere.

Be careful!!!!!  I too am suspicious of the SSPX but the resistance near me  doesn't have any fruits just nuts.  They have a hundred reasons to avoid the sacraments and can't even get along with each other.  Each fraction has their own home lay people led services.  Reminds me of the holy rollers of the '40's

Take the good and leave the rest.

I couldn't agree more...but I hope everyone here sees that as a good thing.

Unlike Protestants, Catholics go to Church for the Mass, the Eucharist, Christ. If people are friendly, all the nicer, but if not, then, we still do our duty to God, assist at Mass, accept the sacraments, and go home. We don't run off and join another parish, or even denomination just because it 'feels' tense. They would have to literally throw me out and refuse me entrance to keep me away; so long as there was nothing actually sinful or harmful going on.

Because that is the case, then it is best to use the chapel / priest for what you need, namely, the Mass and the sacraments and avoid socializing with anyone there. Why not invite the priest over for dinner and socialize with him for an hour or two, he may know a few members of the congregation that you might get along with. But as others have said, unless there are plenty of trad chapels to choose from in your area, that's no reason to leave.
