Well, it's been over 24 hours since the canonizations, and the world has not ended, the Lord has not returned, and chastisement has not begun.
Let this be a lesson that we shouldn't speculate about such things.
What are you talking about?
It was a possibility.
That possibility didn't happen.
Besides the obvious (2 pseudo canonizations, scandal, etc.) nothing bad has happened to any of us who "speculated". We are none the worse for the wear.
I (and any others who discussed this before the event occurred) am not smarting or stinging from anything, so why should I look for a "lesson"?
I'd do it again. I have nothing to regret or be ashamed of.
Trads always have to find their angle or niche. When everyone in the world is discussing something (the latest canonizations, for example) expect a few Trads to take the "rise above it all" position and say that none of the discussions are legitimate.
Trads have a special skill and/or need to be "special". Even among other Trads.
That is SO typical of Trads, I must say...
