  • Me ... I so despise the anonymous forum.  It should at least be opt in rather than opt out.

We discussed this before, and I absolutely disagree.  Once someone forgets to click "anonymous", it's too late, someone may have seen that it was them.  If they posted something very personal, that could be a problem.  If someone who doesn't mind not being anonymous wants to claim a post, all they have to do is do what you did, and make one more post.  No big deal.

  • I saw a full size utility/pick-up truck with handicap plates parked in a handicap space. :laugh2:

Do you understand the oxymoron?
    Seriously?!
The presumptuous opinions on this board are becoming sinful.

  • But most likely it's a case of someone manipulating / persuading their doctor to get them a note so they could get preferred parking.
I agree. And it appears that a bunch of lazy sloths, who are guilty of abusing the state's special privilege pass for lazy sloths and gluttons, down-voted you and me.

  • Both my mother, who died last March at age 100, and her brother who passed away about 10 years ago in his mid 90's, found it easier to get in and out of a pickup or full-size SUV than to try to "slink down" into a sedan or compact vehicle.  The mechanics of movement just seem to work better with the wider doorway and handles to grasp onto.  A person can usually move directly from a pickup into or out of a wheelchair, while with a smaller vehicle they often need to get out of the car, than into the wheelchair.  Also, as someone else said, a pickup or van style rig may be useful for them to transport their mobility devices.

That's a good point.  At times in the past, when I've had back issues, it was much more difficult for me to sit down in a lower-profile car than to slide down from a higher angle.  I know that my son has this lower-profile car that even when my back wasn't acting up is relatively difficult for me to get into.

But, yes, there are people who abuse the handicapped plates.  They'll have a vehicle registered for the use of an elderly parent who has handicapped parking privileges, and then use the vehicle (with the plates) to get preferred parking.  I've seen people get out of such vehicles and practically run into the store and showing no signs of impairment whatsoever that would justify handicapped status.

These are the same people with self-induced unhealthy lifestyles, habits and diets. They're the reason health costs are so high and taxes are so high due to Medicare and Medicaid paying for their "care".

Don't judge a man before you walk a mile in his shoes.
But i do agree that Medicaid (and medicare) should be dismantled.

What about the man (or in the case of me witnessing a pathetic woman) who literally didn't walk a total of a mile in at least a month's time? This woman was so pathetic and such a sloth, all she did was sit on her big behind for years and years, and run up Medicare costs due to her self-induced obesity, diabetes and high blood-pressure. Literally, all of her waking consisted of getting out of her chair and going to the bathroom, and then when she was done wasting her time gambling on the computer all day, she'd walk fifteen feet to go to bed. She was taken care of by her niece her neice's son. She had the ambulance called on her at least fifteen times in less than five years because she fell to the ground and couldn't get up on her own (she was so heavy and lame from not walking), or she went into diabetic spells or septic shock due to her slothful lifestyle. All of it was avoidable. She didn't have an accident nor did some outside force debilitate her. All of it was due to being extremely lazy and selfish. She literally degenerated her physical self due to sloth to the point that she could barely stand for a period of time and she needed a walker to walk. She was so lazy and pathetic that she didn't even put to natural use of her lung capacity. She had Medicare pay for an oxygen generator that she used for the last two or three years of her life. It wasn't necessary at all. In fact, it was detrimental to her because all it did was tell her body to do nothing, to give up, while artificial stimuli will do all of the work to keep her alive. And that's the thing, she cheated natural selection by use of electricty and Medicare paying to keep her "life" going (not much of a life when you spend every day and all day in front of a computer to gamble, and being on depression pills as she trusted nєω ωσrℓ∂ σr∂єr sorcerors "doctors" to feed her pills, when all she needed was to get off the computer to go outside and get fresh air and natural elements. That's another thing. She may have only been outside, literally, only a few times in the last five years of her life, except when she was transported by strecher to an ambulance. It was all by her own choice. All of her disease conditions were self-induced.)

Those cases are far more numerous than your naivete has you allowed to know. You shouldn't parrot a Bible verse and blindly ignore reality. It's not judging either. It's merely recognition of the facts and what needs to be done to correct it.

I'm not even talking about those folks, but people who are in perfectly good health, but somehow got their doctor to sign the papers, maybe for a past injury, or else use family members who are handicapped to get the permit.  So, for instance, maybe you have a disabled family member (child, parent, etc.), and you get the permit because of them, but then you abuse it for convenience when you're just driving somewhere alone and want a prime parking location.

If only she would have made valuable contributions to humanity like... hanging around CIF for years, creating dozens of accounts, spending hours downthumbing, being a general nuisance and wasting Matthew's time.... how much benefit she could have been. What a pity.
You do have a valid point though about government programs enabling people to destroy themselves, definitely a factor in societal collapse.
From appearances your own life appears to be an even more pathetic waste than the woman that you described...the taxpayers also fund your dissipativeness in case you've forgotten...but I hope that you are treated with more charity than you have displayed if and when someone decides that you are no longer worthy of life, Croix.
